We hope you saved some room after your holiday feasts for the tastiest midnight snack!

Mak Fontina is bringing their unique blend of sexy humor to our unique blend of glamorous and fetish at The Burly Soirée: Glitz & Glamour, Lace & Leather on Sunday, January 8. Burlesque has always been a way for them to express their sensuality, sexuality, femininity, humor, and over-the-top creative ideas, and it’s hard to disagree.

Their fun and creativity has taken them to a variety of stages across Houston, and create a custom pastie (the nipple covers you see burlesque performers wear) business where they can explore a multitude of ideas, from classic designs to colorful, whimsical ideas guaranteed to bust through the barrier between imagination and reality.

“Burlesque is a space for me to be me, in any wild form that this means,” Mak shared. “I get to be creative, I get to dance, I get to be free on stage, and I enjoy entertaining people and teasing them, because I know it’s hot.”

Mak first saw burlesque performed at Allways Cabaret in New Orleans, Louisiana, and was in awe of the theatrics and glamour. When they first pursued dance as an adult, they quickly learned it’s their favorite way of connecting to their body and expressing themself. Through classes with Houston Divine Studio and Piper Daily’s burlesque course they were able to enter this magical world prepared and ready to wow.

It all makes perfect sense that they delight in the luxury of burlesque when you realize that they’re a true Taurus. Which also means they balance the luxe with coziness and warmth … and snacks. Their stage name is a pun on mac and cheese (one of their favorite foods), after all.

But, every burly babe needs a respite from the intense creativity required for costuming and choreography. They also enjoy a multitude of hobbies, including playing board games, bowling, time at home with the people they love, and learning about science-y things (which, clearly, this writer doesn’t, since she used the word “science-y”) especially cosmetics and skincare — in which they have a master’s degree.

Come experience just one of the multitude of flavors of Mak Fontina, as they bring a crowd favorite and a brand new act to the stage at The Burly Soirée: Glitz & Glamour, Lace & Leather on Sunday, January 8 at 8th Wonder Distillery. The show will also feature performances from Divine Darlings Sin Pellegrina and Mary Jane Midnight, alongside former members of The Moonlight Dolls burlesque troupe Serena Van Cartier and Lady Annabelle, who also hosts and produces.
